Tesla took the automotive industry by storm. Their approach to building cars is keen to a tech company like Apple then the company that has been for hundreds of years with their typical manufacturing process, they don’t use dealership and of course they are all electric.
If you thought electric cars were all environmental piety and no fun, the Tesla Model S will quickly make you reconsider. At its most basic level, this is a simple car: an all-electric saloon. With the Model S, American car-maker Tesla aims to demonstrate that you can have all the benefits of electric motoring without making any compromises. Basically, tesla model S is the computer on wheel that happens to be the highest tech gadget to ever hit the street.
Model S is designed from the ground up to be the safest, most exhilarating sedan on the road. Boasting up to 337 miles of range, the Model S is the all-electric dream car envied by many. Buyers can choose from rear- and four-wheel drive and three power outputs, with the range-topping P100D model featuring a ‘Ludicrous plus mode’ that will allow it to blast from 0-60mph in just 2.5sec. The lower-spec models offer reduced driving ranges and features. The pure electric, all-wheel drive Model S P100D has four doors, seats up to 5 adults plus 2 children and has exceptional cargo capacity.
According to Tesla, Model S comes with Autopilot capabilities designed to make your highway driving not only safer, but stress free. But I would say autopilot is not hundred percent reliable and practical in present days. Artificial Intelligence and machine learning is evolving very fast in last couple of years so I guess autopilot is going to improve and one day this can be fully practical.
Model S now features full LED adaptive headlamps. Besides enhancing the already great styling, they also boost safety: 14 three-position LED dynamic turning lights improve visibility at night, especially on winding roads. Model S now features a Medical grade HEPA air filtration system, which removes at least 99.97% of particulate exhaust pollution and effectively all allergens, bacteria and other contaminants from cabin air.
Tesla has created a truly different style of dashboard, the display in the center console – a 17-inch touchscreen of breathtaking clarity and responsiveness . It puts rich content at your fingertips and provides either a 3G signal or, if available, a WiFi connection so you can easily find your destination, favorite song or a new restaurant.
The Model S comes with six airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, three ISOFIX points, rollover sensors, emergency power disconnect. Much of its safety is owed to the unique electric drivetrain that sits beneath the car’s aluminum occupant cell in its own subframe. This unique positioning lowers the car’s center of gravity, which improves handling and minimizes rollover risk, and replaces the heavy engine block with impact absorbing boron steel rails. The Model S scored five ANCAP stars, the maximum available, in April 2015 via the sharing arrangement with EuroNCAP.
Range is probably the biggest concern for potential owners, although Tesla makes reassuring claims about the Model S’s potential to take out big mileages. The official range figures vary from 304 miles for the rear-wheel drive 75kWh version to 393 miles for the 100D. The P100D will do 381 miles on a single charge.
The Model S is unlike anything that’s never seen before wearing the now redundant tax disc, and it has the size, pace and, yes, range to compete with a conventionally powered rival. A four-year/50,000-mile warranty is standard, with the battery covered for a further four years no matter how many miles you do.
